History of the company

BMI Telecom (“BMI”) was incorporated in 1986 to provide outside plant (“OSP”) contractor services for New York metro area telecom companies.  BMI was primarily contracted by large telecom carriers to build underground fiber optic and copper based networks.  The company subsequently grew to employ up to thirty (30) employees on various projects ranging from building conduit and placing rope and cable to removal and splicing and procured over forty (40) trucks to expand its construction capacity.

After more than a decade providing OSP contractor services, BMI increased the scope of its services to include the provision of lit network and dark fiber to satisfy the increasing bandwith requirements of various communications entities. As the demand for such services increased, the Optical Communications Group, Inc., a New York corporation (“OCG”) was formed in 1998 to exclusively focus on providing lit network and dark fiber services. OCG continues to utilize BMI’s construction infrastructure, including its fleet of trucks and manpower, which uniquely positions OCG to be able to turn up circuits to new buildings and customers and quickly repair any possible network outages without requiring outsourced services.
