The OCG network
consists of two unique types of fiber
not found in many of the existing
networks. Lucent Truewave RS Fiber which
is designed to optimize OC-192 and DWDM
performance over long spans and Allwave
Fiber which carries the same signal that
single mode fiber does with an increase
of 50% of the carried capacity.
These fiber types will keep our network
”ahead of the curve” by supporting
future generations of equipment and will
maximize transmission capabilities, so
customer regeneration costs can be kept
to a minimum.
The fiber is installed using
the blowing method eliminating any
stress or fiber damage. This method has
three real advantages. It defers much of
the cost since only the optic fibers
actually required at the time need to be
installed. It allows the system to be
upgraded by the replacement of
individual fiber cables and finally, as
a bonus, the installation of the fiber
is completely stress free. |
