The New York City metro area is the most important area for communications on the Eastern Coast of the United States because of the density of both carrier hotels and international submarine cable landing points. There are only 4 to 5 metro areas in the United States as important as NYC for the Telecom industry, most of which are also international submarine cable landing points. As a result of the density of concentrated fiber routes in New York there are an abundance of companies that have built networks to connect to these fiber routes and take advantage the shortest path between Europe and the US. Because of the density and importance of the New York metro for communications it is necessary to constantly make network changes to avoid catastrophe and to stay ahead of the curb.



The role of the metro fiber provider is to understand the network paths of the cable systems and the placement of carrier hotels and how they can affect all industries from finance to government.
